Frightening Truth About Botox and Cosmetic Surgery

Frightening Truth About Botox and Cosmetic Surgery

Is It Worth It?

With all the advertising hype for cosmetic surgery, botox, and fillers, one needs to remember the hefty price tag and potentially a lot of pain and discomfort that is involved in the process.

Let’s take botox for example, the average price is about $20 per unit, and a single treatment might use anywhere from 20 to 60 units per area. Expect to pay about $500 to $800 per session on average. Some clinics can charge twice this amount, it is not cheap, and the effects are only temporary. You will need to repeat the injections every six months or so in order to preserve “the look”. It is worrying to realize that consultants are encouraging young women in their twenties to have botox on the grounds that it’s better to start young before their wrinkles and crow’s feet start to appear. People are obsessed with their appearance and anti-aging. Apart from having the potential to cause pain and discomfort botox can cause very discomfiting side effects, namely localized redness, tenderness, inflammation and swelling at the injection site and, even worse, drooping eyelids or eyebrows, as a result of muscle atrophy. What is atrophy? It is when muscles are not used for a period of time and begin to waste away. Of course the effect of this is going to be far more noticeable in younger people who still have a naturally good muscle tone, and the effect can be extremely aging. What is ironic, is that people having botox believe that they are turning back the clock whereas in fact they can potentially end up making themselves look even older.

Is Cosmetic Surgery A Better Option?
In cosmetic surgery the results cannot be guaranteed and the risks are far, far greater. Even if the operation is a success, you might not necessarily look any younger or even better for the amount of money, pain and discomfort invested. Keep in mind some of these procedures can radically change the way you look, which may not be the outcome you wanted. Problems or outcomes with cosmetic surgery can cause more pressing psychological problems, if the results are not what you anticipated.
Despite the expensive price tag, some people admit to having residual pain and discomfort, and that their face feels immobile from the effects of the surgery. Unfortunately after cosmetic surgery, some people immediately see something else, some other “flaw” that “needs correcting”. Sometimes it is almost impossible to draw a line. It becomes an obsession.

Having the face of a 25 year old but the neck, décolletage, stomach, hands, and feet of someone who’s fifty…. Need I say more.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against looking younger and how you go about achieving it, it is just the “how” and “how much” that I feel needs to be talked about. I am totally for cosmetic procedures where there is a problem that may adversely affect a person’s health or mental state and even then I would say proceed with extreme caution.
I would far rather see people who age naturally and beautifully, those who squeeze every last drop out of life. That when combined with an internal health approach and a good skincare routine can give you radiant, healthy, and beautiful skin. You can also find products and devices that have amazing results and are non-invasive. For example, one of the best-selling device for acne treatment is our OxyDerm Kit. Check it out on our website.

Back to the question, Is it worth it?

That is something you will have to decide. Make sure you research, research, oh did I say research. Make sure you ask about the doctor's credentials, experience, and so on...

Getting the right information can make a world of difference.

We always say “Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful”!
